PRACTICE PROFILE

 

Anita Atwal is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation, Insurance, Intellectual Property & Technology and Labour & Employment Practices. Her practice is primarily litigation based with a focus on civil litigation. Anita obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University in 2000 and her LL.B. from the University of British Columbia in 2004.

Prior to her career in law, Anita helped grow her family-owned and operated company from a start-up business to the largest herb and specialty produce company of its kind in Canada and the second largest in North America.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE


Anita has conducted trials in the British Columbia Supreme Court and the British Columbia Provincial Court. She has also appeared in the Supreme Court Chambers for a variety of matters. Anita has assisted senior counsel with appeals in the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

Recent cases include:

  • Fournogerakis v. Barlow, 2008 BCCA 223 
  • Taylor v. Bury, 2007 BCSC 1130 
  • Dhillon v. Khalsa Diwan Society - New Westminster, Reasons for Judgment, May 16, 2007 (BCSC Reg No. S067886)

Co-authored a paper on Emerging Legal Trends in Public Education: “Copyright Infringement and the Use of Software in the Education System.”
